Membrane Separation
Membrane separation technology has been used for water treatment due to its unique advantages, such as being easy to operate, stable processes and no phase-inversion in the filtration process. Membranes fabricated with nanoparticles (NPs) are regarded as nanocomposite membranes. Nanocomposite membranes can be fabricated using embedding with nanoparticles (NPs) using different strategies such as coating, blending, and deposition. A variety of nanoparticles have been used to tune the structure and surface properties for enhanced performance and properties of membrane.
One research interest of our group is design and fabricating advanced nanocomposite membranes for various applications, such as hardness removal, environmental remedy (heavy metal ions removal), water purification and selective separation of mono-valent and multi-valent metal ions through membrane distillation, nanofiltration and electrodialysis. A variety of nanomaterials are utilized to fabricate membranes for these uses, such as MOF, CNTs and 2D nanomaterials.
